Hello, I am John  and I manage LiveByTheU properties. ​

I attended the U of M from 1992-1995 and graduated with a degree in Mathematics.  Well, I never really grew out of the student lifestyle and still live on campus today. I had a chance to see a wide range of student housing during my time at the U and I was always amazed at the lack of upkeep in the most the houses.  In 2004 I decided to try my hand at renovating one of the more distressed properties on campus.  I had a lot of fun spending a year completely remodeling that first house, and now 15 years later, I have purchased and updated a few more properties that I manage.

My hard work has created some of the nicer properties on campus, and as a result I usually attract renters who are more appreciative of their homes.  That has worked out well for everyone since I have found that my tenant relationships are very respectful when you provide better quality housing.

I think this has allowed me the advantage of being more responsive and flexible.  I take care of the majority of smaller repairs myself and am very involved in maintaining my properties. Most my tenants would say I am a very fair and reasonable person to work with and the majority stay with me until graduation.
